Encoders convert angular or linear motion into electrical signals that indicate position, speed, and direction. These signals are read by motion control systems and used to precisely control machine movement.

Precizika photoelectric encoders use optical or magnetic principles (light modulation or magnetic sensors) to detect position and movement.

An absolute encoder provides true position data using a unique code for each position (binary or Gray code), allowing the system to know exact position immediately at power-on without reference movement. Resolution is based on 2ⁿ (n = number of bits).

Single-turn absolute encoder: measures position within one full rotation
Multi-turn absolute encoder: also tracks total number of revolutions relative to a reference point
